Kanagi [town] - Kanagi

Japanese: 金城[町] - かなぎ

A former town in Naka District, in the mid-west of Shimane Prefecture. It was incorporated as a town in 1969. The northern part is the mountainous region of Iwami Highlands, and agriculture and forestry are the main industries. The center is Shimohara, which is connected to Hamada City by National Route 186. Mount Osa in the southern part is part of the West Chugoku Mountains Quasi-National Park. In October 2005, it was incorporated into Hamada City along with Misumi Town, Asahi Town, and Yasaka Village in Naka District. 164.30 ^km2 . 5,292 people (2003).
