Egoism

Japanese: エゴイズム
Egoism
Translated as "egoism," it generally refers to a negative attitude that focuses solely on the fulfillment of one's own desires and the pursuit of one's own interests. As opposed to "altruism." Etymologically, it should be called egoism, a way of thinking that holds that the complete realization of the self or one's own interests is the goal of human action and the foundation of all ethics. When emphasizing the positive meaning, the word egotism is also used.
