Mr. Iwamatsu

Japanese: 岩松氏 - いわまつうじ

They are also called the Nitta Iwamatsu clan. Their founder, Tokikane, was the daughter of Ashikaga Yoshizumi and Nitta Yoshikane, and in 1224 (Joō 3) and 1226 (Karoku 2), she was appointed land steward of the Iwamatsu district of Nitta Manor in Kozuke Province, which had been passed down to her by her mother, Nitta Nun. Since then, they became a powerful branch family of the Nitta clan, and in 1268 (Bun'ei 5), they expanded their influence by inheriting the Tokugawa district and other areas from Tokugawa Yoriari, a branch family of the Serada clan. They were instrumental in Nitta Yoshisada's attack on Kamakura, and were given the position of Hida Shugo. However, during the Nanboku-chō civil war, they joined the Ashikaga clan and gained control of Nitta Manor with the downfall of the Nitta clan.

新田岩松氏ともいう。開祖時兼は，足利義純と新田義兼の娘を両親とし，母の新田尼から譲られた上野国新田荘岩松郷以下の地頭職に，1224年(貞応3)，26年(嘉禄2)に補任された。以来，新田氏の有力庶家となり，68年(文永5)には庶家の一つ世良田氏系の得川頼有から得川郷などを継承して勢力を拡大した。新田義貞の鎌倉攻めには功績があり，飛驒守護職などを得た。しかし南北朝内乱期には，足利氏に属して新田氏の没落とともに新田荘の支配権を獲得した。
