A married couple of French politicians. Her husband, Jean-Marie Roland de la Platière (1734-93), was born in Lorraine in the south of France and became an inspector of the silk industry in Lyon. In 1780, he married Manon Philipon Roland de la Platière (1754-93), a Parisian sculptor born into a bourgeois family.
