Rostov-Suzdal Principality (English spelling)
A principality of medieval Russia that existed in the northeast of Kievan Rus when it was fragmenting. Rostov, then Suzdal, was its center, but in the second half of the 12th century, its capital was moved to Vladimir, and it became known as the Vladimir-Suzdal Principality. As Kievan Rus fell into decline, it became known as the Grand Principality of Vladimir. Moscow was also a town located on the outskirts of this principality. Its territory was vast, stretching from Lake Racha and the Ustia River in the north to the Klyazma and Lopasnya Rivers in the south, and from the Unzha and Yug Rivers in the east to the Tvertsa River in the west.
