map-wing butterfly

...Due to its vertically long wings, it only has a small wingspan of 5-6cm. Its Japanese name comes from the wing pattern that resembles a stone cliff (stone wall), and its English name is map-wing butterfly, with the vertical stripes on the wings likened to meridians and the wing veins like parallels. It is a southern species, and its northern limit of distribution is around Mie Prefecture in Honshu, but it is widely distributed overseas from India to southern China.
