A voluntary business movement in which workers tackle the economic problems that arise as a result of accidents or changes in their lives. While the labor union movement works to improve living conditions in the production and labor processes, this movement aims to eliminate or remove factors that disrupt life in the consumption and distribution processes, and generally takes the form of a consumer cooperative (co-op) movement, and attempts to eliminate or reduce intermediate profits and intermediate expenses and to recapture them. In addition to consumer cooperatives or purchasing cooperatives, there are movements for labor banks, mutual aid businesses, housing cooperatives, medical cooperatives, travel associations, etc. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
