Born: March 8, 1866 in Moscow [Died] March 14, 1912, Moscow. Russian physicist. Studied under A. Kundt in Strasbourg. Obtained his doctorate in 1891. Professor at Moscow University (1900). In 1899, he succeeded in measuring the radiation pressure (light pressure) predicted by J. Maxwell. He is also known for investigating the origin of the geomagnetism.
