A Belgian avant-garde artists' group founded in Brussels in 1884. It is sometimes translated as "The Group of Twenty," meaning "20 (people)." The group was founded by art lover and lawyer Octave Maus (1856-1919), and included 20 artists, including J. Vogels, Ensor, Knopff, and T. van Rysselberghe. Later, foreign artists such as Toorop (Netherlands) and Rodin (France) joined the group, but some members also left, and the total number of members was 32.
