Michiji Nakazawa - Nakazawa Douni

A Sekimon Shingaku practitioner from the late Edo period. His given name was Yoshimichi, commonly known as Kyubei, and his family name was Kameya, leading to his nickname Kamekyu. His pen name was Doji. He was born on August 15, 1710, to a textile craftsman in Kyoto. He was interested in religion from an early age and trained in Zen, but in middle age he was introduced to Shingaku by Fuse Shoo (1726-1784) and studied under Tejima Toan. He went to Edo and established Sanzensha, and his missionary activities reached 20 countries in the Kanto and Kansai regions. His missionary work extended not only to ordinary people, but also to feudal lords, including Honda Higonokami Tadayoshi (1741-1795), lord of Yamazaki in Banshu, who was a member of the Shogunate cabinet of Matsudaira Sadanobu at the time, and his household, as well as samurai such as hatamoto and gokenin. He also became a great contributor to the spread of Sekimon Shingaku, teaching at the labor camp in Tsukudajima, which Sadanobu established. He died on June 11, 1291.

江戸後期の石門心学(せきもんしんがく)者。名は義道(よしみち)、通称久兵衛(きゅうべえ)、家号(やごう)亀屋で亀久とよばれる。号は道二。享保(きょうほう)10年8月15日、京都の織物職人の子に生まれる。幼年時代より宗教に関心をもち禅の修行を積んだが、中年になって布施松翁(ふせしょうおう)（1726―1784）の紹介で手島堵庵(てじまとあん)について心学を学ぶ。江戸に出て参前舎(さんぜんしゃ)を設立するなど、その布教活動は関東・関西の20か国に達した。彼の布教は一般庶民のみならず、時の老中松平定信(まつだいらさだのぶ)の幕閣メンバーであった播州(ばんしゅう)山崎藩主本多肥後守(ひごのかみ)忠可(ただよし)（1741―1795）をはじめとする諸藩主やその家中、旗本、御家人(ごけにん)などの武士にまで及んだ。また定信が設立した佃島(つくだじま)の人足寄場(にんそくよせば)の教導にあたるなど、石門心学普及の功労者となる。享和(きょうわ)3年6月11日没。
