The English word "leather" means leather or tanned leather, but in Japan it usually refers to artificial leather-like products (leather cloth). It is also called imitation leather. Examples include pyroxylin leather and vinyl leather, which are made by applying pyroxylin lacquer (nitrocellulose with a nitrogen content of about 15% dissolved in a solvent and adding plasticizers) or polyvinyl chloride resin to cloth or paper to create a leather-like pattern on the surface. It is used for upholstery, book covers, book jackets, daily goods, etc. → Synthetic leather Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
