The Generalissimo Act

Japanese: 大元帥法 - たいげんすいほう
The Generalissimo Act
One of the great practices of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism. In oral tradition, the character "sui" is omitted and it is called "Taigen no ho." The main deity is Daigensui Myoo Āṭavaka (a demon god) who is said to have the power to drive away evil beasts and foreign enemies. It is a practice performed for the protection of the nation and the surrender of enemy forces. It was brought to Japan by Jōkyō from the Tang Dynasty in 839. Since 851, it has been performed at the Imperial Court for seven days from January 8th, and was also performed during the Tenkei Rebellion.
