It started as a form of rehabilitation for the mentally disabled, allowing them to go to school or work during the day, and providing medical care and protection under the supervision of a medical team at night. It is translated as a night hospital. It was started in 1953 by E. Moll at the Montreal General Hospital in Canada. J. Bierer also established a separate night hospital in the area, which also provided nighttime medical care for those who could not receive outpatient treatment at the hospital during the day because of work or other reasons.
