Lint (English spelling)

Japanese: リント(英語表記)lint
Lint (English spelling)
Long fibers from cotton seeds. 2-5cm long, they are used as the raw material for cotton thread. They are separated from the seeds in a gin, but are also called raw cotton commercially. The amount of lint is about 30% of the actual cotton, and its specific gravity varies depending on the impurities it contains, but is generally 1.54. The regain is the ratio of the amount of water absorbed by fibers left for an extended period of time in air at a temperature of 20°C and a relative humidity of 65% to the dry amount of the fibers, and the regain for lint is 8.5%. Wet fibers generally become weak, but lint does not weaken because it has good crystallinity and a large molecular weight.
