1903‐36 Chinese revolutionary and guerrilla warrior. Born in Bao'an County, Shaanxi Province. Also known as Jinggui. In 1925, he joined the Communist Party of China and entered the Huangpu Military Academy. After graduating, he was active in the Northwest National Revolutionary Army. During the Second Civil Revolutionary War, he engaged in revolutionary movements and guerrilla warfare in the Northwest, especially in his hometown of Shaanbei, and made a major contribution to the expansion of the Red Army and the Soviet area. In 1932, he became commander of the 26th Red Army, and in the fall of 1935, he became deputy commander and chief of staff of the 15th Red Army Corps. After welcoming the Central Red Army and Party to Yan'an after the Long March, he continued to hold several important positions in the Red Army, including commander of the 28th Red Army and vice chairman of the Northwest Revolutionary Military Committee.
