Ryukoku University

A private university with its headquarters in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City. It originated as a dormitory established within the grounds of Nishi Honganji Temple in 1639, and went on to become Daikyo School, Ryukoku Daigakurin, and Bukkyo University. 京都市伏見区に本部がある私立大学。寛永16年（1639）西本願寺境内に設立された学寮を起源とし、大教校、竜谷大学林、仏教大学を経て、大正11年（1922）旧制の竜谷大学となり、昭和24年（1949）新制大学へ移行。
