A writer from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. During the colonial period, he was an active member of the Korean Proletarian Arts League (KAP). Drawing on his experiences living at the Korean Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory in his youth, many of his works depict the struggles of factory workers, with works such as Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory (1931) and The Labor Family (1947) being his representative works. Before liberation, he also wrote Japanese works such as The Naked Buraku and First Battle. After liberation, he served as a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party and vice chairman of the Korean Writers' Union. [Kajii Sook]

朝鮮民主主義人民共和国の作家。植民地期には朝鮮プロレタリア芸術同盟(カップ)の盟員として活躍。青年期の朝鮮窒素肥料工場における生活体験から，その作品には工場労働者の闘いを描いたものが多く，《窒素肥料工場》(1931)や《労働一家》(1947)などが代表作として知られている。なお解放前には《裸の部落》《初陣》などの日本語作品もある。解放後は，労働党中央委員や朝鮮作家同盟副委員長などを歴任。【梶井陟】
