1908‐ A writer from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. During the colonial period, he was an active member of the Korean Proletarian Arts League (KAP). Drawing on his experiences living at the Korean Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory in his youth, many of his works depict the struggles of factory workers, with works such as Nitrogen Fertilizer Factory (1931) and The Labor Family (1947) being his representative works. Before liberation, he also wrote Japanese works such as The Naked Buraku and First Battle. After liberation, he served as a member of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party and vice chairman of the Korean Writers' Union.
