Usually, it is expressed as morbidity rate (annual) = (number of notified cases in a year/midyear population) x 100,000 per 100,000 population per year. For example, the number of notified dysentery cases in 1992 was 1,124, and the morbidity rate per 100,000 population is 0.9. There are also specific morbidity rates that incorporate gender, age, and other special conditions.
