Ishido - Isurugi

Japanese: 石動 - いするぎ
Ishido - Isurugi

This is the central district of Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture. It was formerly Isurugi Town. It is served by the Ainokaze Toyama Railway (formerly the JR Hokuriku Main Line), and national highways 8 and 471. After Imaisurugi Castle was abandoned, the Kaga Domain's magistrate's office was established here as it was an important location leading to Kanazawa, and it controlled Tonami and Himi. Located at the foot of Mount Tonami, it developed as a post town on the Hokuriku Road. There are many small businesses, and the town is known for its ceramics industries, producing rubber shoes, roofing tiles, and bricks. Kurikara Pass is an ancient battlefield between the Genpei War and the Taira War, and Shiroyama is known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot.
