Charles Lamoureux

French conductor. He started out as a violinist, and after graduating from the Paris Conservatory in 1854, he became a musician at the Paris Opera. His marriage to a wealthy woman was a blessing that helped him realize his daily ambitions. The most important of these was the founding of the Nouveau Concert in 1881, after serving as the conductor of the Paris Opera and the Paris Opera. In 1897, this changed its name to the Lamoureux Concert Orchestra, which continues to this day.

フランスの指揮者。はじめバイオリン奏者で，パリ音楽院卒業(1854)後，オペラ座の楽員となった。富裕な婦人と結婚したのが日ごろの抱負の実現に幸いした。その実現の最も重要なものが，オペラ･コミック座，オペラ座の指揮者を歴任ののち1881年に彼の設立した〈新演奏協会Nouveau Concert〉である。これが97年に名をあらため〈ラムルー演奏協会(ラムルー管弦楽団Concert Lamoureux)〉となって，今日に及んでいる。
