Acrinol - Acrinol (English spelling)

A germicidal disinfectant, also known as ethacridine lactate. Following the discovery of the antitrypanosomal drug acriflavine in 1917 from research into the germicidal action of acridine dyes, Acrinol, a less toxic version of acriflavine, was announced in 1919. The Bayer brand name Rivanol is the hydrochloride salt, but the Japanese Pharmacopoeia name Acrinol is the lactate salt, which dissolves easily in water. A yellow crystalline powder, it is usually used as a 0.1-0.2% aqueous solution for disinfection, or mixed into tincture oil or ointment.

殺菌消毒薬で、別名乳酸エタクリジン。アクリジン色素の殺菌作用の研究から1917年抗トリパノソーマ剤アクリフラビンの発見に次いで、その毒性を改良したアクリノールが1919年に発表された。バイエル社の商品名リバノールはこの塩酸塩であるが、日本薬局方名のアクリノールは水に溶けやすい乳酸塩である。黄色結晶性粉末で、普通0.1～0.2％水溶液が消毒用に、またチンク油や軟膏(なんこう)剤に配合して用いる。
