French Catholic thinker. He was a priest, but gradually came to embrace the idea of social and political reform, and after being excommunicated, he became active in his own Christian socialist stance. He became a member of the National Assembly in 1848. His major works are "The Speech of a Believer" (1834) and "A Letter to the People" (1837).
