Blockade is a type of coastal defense that uses military force to prevent enemy surface ships and submarines from passing through straits or channels through which they are expected to pass. Blockade usually involves deep deployment of mobile forces such as surface ships, aircraft, and submarines, as well as fixed weapons such as radar, underwater detectors, and mines, taking into account the characteristics of the strait area and the situation between the two sides. Ships and aircraft stationed outside the strait usually also serve as coastal defense forces. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
