Larnite (English spelling)

Japanese: ラーナイト（英語表記）larnite

A representative type of dicalcium silicate mineral. Also called larnite. Its chemical composition is Ca ₂ SiO ₄ . In the ceramics industry, its compound composition is expressed as C ₂ S (dicalcium silicate). In the cement industry, it is commonly known as belite. It belongs to the monoclinic crystal system and has a cleavage in {100}. It forms short columnar and granular crystals. The composition of _{Ca 2} SiO ₄ exists as α, α', β, and γ, but larnite has a β-type structure. Its specific gravity is 3.28. It can be colorless, white, or gray. When it is formed at high temperatures and cooled, it has the tendency to transform and collapse, but it is stabilized by small amounts of solid solution such as B ₂ O ₃ and S.

ジカルシウムケイ酸塩鉱物の代表的な一種。ラルン石ともいう。化学成分はCa₂SiO₄。窯業分野では化合物組成を表してC₂S(ケイ酸二石灰)とも書き表す。セメント分野ではベリットbeliteの通称で呼ぶ。単斜晶系に属し，｛100｝にへき開明りょう。短柱状，粒状結晶となる。Ca₂SiO₄の組成にはα,α′，β,γが存在するが，ラーナイトはβ型の構造をもつ。比重3.28。無色，白色，灰色などを呈す。高温で生成したものが冷却する場合は変態を起こして崩壊する性質があるが，B₂O₃,Sなどの少量の固溶により安定化が行われる。
