Rack (English)

Rack (English)
A flat plate or rod with teeth of the same shape and evenly spaced on one side. It can be considered as a spur gear with an infinite pitch circle diameter, and in an involute gear, the teeth of the rack are straight. Racks are used to mesh with the small gear (also called a pinion, the gear with the fewer teeth in a pair of gears) and are also used in steering parts of automobiles. Racks are also used as cutters for cutting gear teeth (rack cutters). The JIS specifies that racks with the specifications specified for standard gears are called basic racks. A specific pitch line where the thickness of the rack teeth is half the pitch is called the basic pitch line, and a tool with the cutting edge in the space of the basic rack is called a basic rack-type tool.

Lacq

A village in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques department in southwestern France. Although it is a small village, it attracted attention in 1951 when oil and natural gas fields were discovered nearby. The natural gas reserves in particular are on a world-class scale, with over 30 gas wells currently drilled and pipelines extending from the village to various parts of southwestern France. A gas chemical industrial complex has been formed, producing gasoline, propane, etc., and by treating the hydrogen sulfide contained in the gas, over 1.8 million tons of sulfur are separated per year. A gas-fired power plant is also being built for an aluminum factory. A complex is currently being developed in the new town of Moulin-l'Enne. Population: 664 (1990)

Lacq
