Atlas Cedar

...It was introduced to Japan around 1879, and has been planted everywhere since then. The word cedar originally refers to this family, which includes the Lebanon cedar ( C. libani Loud.) found in Western Asia, such as Lebanon and Syria, and the Atlas cedar (C. atlantica Loud.) found in western North Africa. [Symbolism]
It has been considered a sacred tree since ancient times; its oil and wood were used to preserve mummies in Egypt, and it is planted in temples in the Himalayas.
