[Born] 1789 [Died] 1853 A Chinese scholar of the Qing dynasty, born in Ganquan (Jiangsu Province). His pen name was Zibiao and his pen name was Mingxiang. He was knowledgeable in astronomy and mathematics, and inherited and developed the Tianyuanshu (a type of algebra) that had developed in the Song and Yuan dynasties. He wrote works such as the Siyuan Yujian Xicao (Siyuan Yujian Xicao) (24 volumes, 1834), which introduced the work of Yuan mathematician Zhu Shijie, and the Zhou Zhuren Zhuan (Continued Biographies of Mathematicians and Astronomers) (6 volumes, 40), which succeeded Ruan Yuan's Zhuren Zhuan (Collection of Biographies of Mathematicians and Astronomers).
