A two-act ballet. A masterpiece of romantic ballet. In March 1832, at the Paris Opera, choreographed by Filippo Taglioni (1777-1871) and with music by Jean Schneitzhoeffer (1785-1852), Filippo's daughter M. Taglioni danced the title role. In November 1836, at the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, choreographed by Bournonville and with music by Herman Severin Løvenskjold (1815-70), L. Grahn danced the title role.
