Born on February 14, 1745. He was a chief retainer of the Yoshida clan in Iyo (Ehime Prefecture). During the Takezaemon Ikki (Yoshida Uprising) (1792), which was an uprising against the paper monopoly system in 1792, he persuaded farmers on February 14th, but took responsibility for the clan and committed suicide on the spot. Later, the farmers mourned this and built Ando Shrine on the site of Ando's residence. He was 47 years old. He was commonly known as Gidayu.
