Waybill - Waybill

In land goods transportation contracts, this is a document that the sender issues to the carrier at their request (Commercial Code, Article 570). Also called a waybill, it is used to determine the identity of the goods and clarify the rights and obligations related to the transportation, and in the case of consecutive transportation, it is also convenient for the subsequent carrier to know the contents of the transportation contract. The waybill contains the type, weight or volume of the goods, the type, number and code of packing, the destination, the consignee, etc., and is signed by the sender, but it is neither a contract nor a security, but merely a certificate of evidence. The carrier is free to request the issuance of a waybill, but in rail transportation, the sender must submit one even if the carrier does not request it (Railway Transportation Regulations, Articles 50 to 53).

陸上物品運送契約において、荷送人が運送人の請求により交付する書面（商法570条）。送り状ともいわれ、運送品の同一性の判断や当該運送に関する権利義務の関係を明らかにするほか、相次運送の場合には、後の運送人が運送契約の内容を知るうえにも便宜である。運送状には、運送品の種類・重量または容積、その荷造りの種類・個数・記号、到達地、荷受人などが記載され、荷送人が署名するが、これは契約書でも有価証券でもなく、単なる証拠証券にすぎない。運送状の交付を請求するか否かは運送人の自由であるが、鉄道運送では運送人の請求がなくても荷送人はこれを提出しなければならない（鉄道運輸規程50条～53条）。
