The method of awarding ranks under the Ritsuryo system was divided into Imperial appointing, which awarded Nai-i and Gei-i 5th rank or higher, So-ju, which awarded Nai-i 8th and Gei-i 7th rank or higher, and Kan-han-ju, which awarded Gei-i 8th rank and Nai-i 1st rank, but for Kun-i, 6th rank or higher, Imperial appointing, and So-ju, for 7th to 12th rank. The Imperial appointing ceremony, which awarded ranks of 5th rank or higher, became one of the annual events of the Imperial Court, and there were male and female conferment of ranks, but when we say conferment of ranks, we mean male conferment of ranks. ...
