Arita ware - Arita ware

Japanese: 有田焼 - ありたやき
Arita ware - Arita ware
Porcelain produced in the Arita region of Hizen (Saga Prefecture) was started by Korean potters who were deported after the Bunroku-Keicho War. With the success of Sakaida Kakiemon's red-glazed porcelain and the protection of the feudal lord Nabeshima, it became the center of the ceramic industry in the Edo period. It is also called Imari ware because it was shipped from Imari Port.
