A device for projecting and enlarging slides (transparencies). A low-voltage bulb is used as the light source, and slides of the subject are fed in one by one, or in succession, for projection. There are a variety of types, from very simple ones to those with automatic frame-feeding and automatic focusing devices, and simple viewers that use transmitted light for viewing. Some can be linked to a tape recorder to synchronize with sound recording. 35 mm slide projectors became popular, but have now almost disappeared.
