Also called a gully or rain valley. A groove-like topography created by the flow of rainwater or melting snow. It tends to develop on sloping land with soft soil and no vegetation. Smaller ones are called rills. It is a type of soil erosion, and in the United States, it refers to erosion that is so large that large agricultural machinery cannot cross it. It is an early stage of valley development, and there is running water only when it rains or melts snow, and there is no running water during normal times. Countless rain fissures have developed in South Dakota in the United States and south of La Paz in Bolivia.

ガリー，雨谷ともいう。雨水や融雪水の流下によってつくられた溝状の地形。植生のない軟らかい土壌の傾斜地に発達しやすい。その小規模なものをリル rillという。土壌浸食の一つの型で，アメリカでは，大型農業機械が横断できない規模のものまでをいう。谷の発達の初期の地形で，降雨時あるいは融雪のときだけ流水があり，平時は流水がない。アメリカのサウスダコタ州やボリビアのラパス南方などに無数の雨裂が発達している。
