Japanese: 蘆刈 - あしかり

(1) The title of a Noh piece. It is the fourth piece in the Goryū genre. It is said to have been written by Zeami. The wife finds the down-and-out Saemon (shite) cutting and selling reeds in his hometown of Naniwa, and takes him back to the capital. (2) The title of a Kamigata dance and jiuta piece. It is also called "New Reed Cutting." It uses some lines from a Noh piece to describe the madness of love. In Kyomai, there is a version based on the fifth act of the Gidayū play "Settsu no Kuni Nagare Hitobashira," called "Reed Cutting, Hat Cutting."

（１）能の曲名。四番目物。五流現行。世阿弥作と伝えられる。郷里の難波でアシを刈って売っているおちぶれた左衛門（シテ）を妻が見つけて都へつれ帰る。（２）上方舞・地歌の曲名。《新蘆刈》とも。一部に能の文句を借りて，恋に狂うさまを描く。京舞では義太夫節《摂津国長柄人柱》５段目景事〈蘆刈〉の段を地とするものもあり，《蘆刈笠之段》と別称。
