A general term for birds of the Todidae family in the order Coraciiformes. A very small bird endemic to the West Indies, consisting of one genus and five species. Total length about 10 cm. The five species are very similar in plumage color and morphology. The upperparts are green, the throat is red, the undertail is yellow, the chest and abdomen are white or have pale yellow or pale green parts, and the sides are pink. The legs are black and short. Sexes are the same color. The beak is flat and somewhat long, the upper beak is black, and the lower beak is mostly red. It mainly lives in open mountain forests, living near the ground or in the shrub layer.
