Japanese: 羊斑 - ようはん

They are also called floccules or chromospheric white spots. They are fine patterns of light and dark that can be seen when observing the solar surface with monochromatic light such as the Hα line of hydrogen, the H line of calcium, or the K line. In the Hα line, they are short filaments that correspond to the center of the chromosphere, and in the K line, they are granular and correspond to the upper part of the chromosphere. Bright floccules indicate that the temperature is higher than the surrounding area, and the increase or decrease in their area is closely related to solar activity. Floccules with an expanded area of activity are specifically called plage.

フロキューリ，彩層白斑ともよばれる。水素のHα線，カルシウムのH線，K線等の単色光で太陽面を観測するとき見られる細かい明暗の模様。Hα線では短い繊維状で彩層の中央部，K線では粒状で彩層の上部に相当する。明るい羊斑は周囲より温度が高いことを表し，その面積の増減は太陽活動と密接に関係する。活動域の広がった羊斑は，とくにプラージュとよばれる。
