...In Ladakh, on religious festival days, a group of professional musicians from the outcaste called Mon plays music before the ceremony or in front of gates. Instruments used in Lamaist ritual music include the three-metre long airphone duṅ-chen, the upright flute rag-duṅ or jan-duṅ, the oboe-like gyaling, rgya-glin, rkan-glin or san-kang, the conch shell duṅ or duṅ-dkar, the pair of double-sided large drums rna-chin, lag-rna or nayok, the ḍamaru, the idiophone ḥkhar-rṅa, the cymbal sil-sñan, and the bells dril-bu used by masters.
