Bamboo Chronicles - Chikushokinen

Japanese: 竹書紀年 - ちくしょきねん
Bamboo Chronicles - Chikushokinen

A book from the Wei dynasty during the Warring States period in China. It consists of 14 volumes. It is one of the bamboo slips that were obtained by Bu Jun of Jiu Commandery (Henan Province) of Jin in 279 (Xianning 5, also called 280 (Taikang 1) or 281) when he robbed the ancient tomb of King Xiang (also called King Anli) of Wei. Shu Xi, Xun Xu, He Qiao, Fu Zan and others, who were ordered by Emperor Wu of Jin to organize and study the book, recorded it as 14 volumes in the Annals. The contents of the book are roughly the same as those in other historical records, covering events from the Xia Dynasty to the 20th year of the reign of King Anli of Wei (258 B.C.). The two volumes of the Bamboo Annals that are known today begin with Emperor Huangdi and have been expanded and revised by later generations, so the original form of the book has been lost.
