Asian large-footed bat (English spelling)
A mammal of the family Vespertilionidae in the order Chiroptera. It is also called the white-winged bat. It is an insectivorous bat with large hind legs. Its name comes from the white hair on its thighs. It is found in Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, Tsushima, Sado, and overseas in eastern Siberia and the southern Kuril Islands. Its forearm length is 36-38.5 mm, its head and body length 46-52 mm. Its hind legs are the largest and strongest of all Japanese myotis bats, and it is adapted to hanging from uneven rocky areas. Its ears are long and slender, its tragus is bent outward, and its flying membrane is attached to its shin.

翼手目ヒナコウモリ科の哺乳類。モモジロホオヒゲコウモリともいう。後足が大きい虫食性のコウモリ。ももの毛が白いのでこの名がある。北海道,本州,四国,九州,対馬,佐渡,国外ではシベリア東部,南千島に分布する。前腕長36~38.5mm,頭胴長46~52mm,日本のホオヒゲコウモリ類中もっとも後足が大きくがんじょうで,凹凸が多い岩場にぶら下がるのに適応する。耳介は細長く,耳珠(じしゆ)は外方に曲がり,飛膜が脛部(けいぶ)につく。
