Dielectric material

Dielectric material
A device that stores electric charge between two electrodes is called a capacitor. When an insulator is placed between these electrodes and a voltage is applied, the resulting electric field orients the charge distribution of the atoms in the insulator, with positive charges appearing on the positive side of the electric field and negative charges appearing on the negative side. As a result, the amount of charge that can be stored increases by ε times when an insulator is inserted between the electrodes compared to when there is a vacuum. This is called the dielectric polarization phenomenon, with ε being called the relative dielectric constant. All insulators can be said to be dielectrics. The dielectrics used in actual capacitors are called dielectric materials, which can be broadly divided into thin polymer films, oils, and ceramics.
