Kenreimon Gate

Japanese: 建礼門 - けんれいもん

[1] One of the gates on the outer wall of the Heian-kyo Imperial Palace. It is the main gate on the south side, facing the inner wall's Jomeimon Gate. In front of the gate, the Aouma no Sechie (White Horse Ceremony) , Jarai (Archery) , sumo wrestling and other events were held. Aouma no Jin (Green Horse Camp). Southernmost Gate. *Sandai Jitsuroku - October 8, 858 (Ten'an 2), "The _Great Purification at Kenrei Gate ₁ " [2] A gate on the south side of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It is located in the center west, and when you enter, you will see the Shishinden Hall directly in front of you to the north. Minami-gomon (South Gate).
