Uriyangkhatai (English spelling)

Japanese: ウリヤンハタイ（英語表記）Uriyangkhatai

Son of Subetei, a military commander of the Mongol Empire. Dates of birth and death unknown. Served in Guyuk Teizong's subjugation of Eastern Manchuria and Batu's expedition to the west. After Guyuk's death, as a senior retainer of the Tului family, he worked hard to ensure that Mongke, the next emperor, ascended to the throne. In 1253, he was made deputy commander in Kublai Khan's expedition to Yunnan, and remained to continue the expedition after Kublai's return. When Mongke began his personal campaign against the Southern Song in 1257, he passed through Annan, broke through the central part of the Southern Song territory, including Guangxi, Hunan, and Jiangxi, and joined the Mongol army in Ezhou. モンゴル帝国の武将スベテイの子。生没年不明。定宗グユクの東マンチュリア討伐，バトゥの西征に従軍。グユクの死後，トゥルイ家の宿老として憲宗モンケの即位に尽力した。1253年のフビライ･ハーンの雲南遠征には副将となり，フビライ帰還後も残留して征討を続けた。57年モンケの南宋親征が始まると，安南を経由して，広西･湖南･江西と南宋領の中央部を突破し，鄂州のモンゴル軍に合流した。その後の動向は確定し難い。【杉山正明】
