A town in Uryu District, Hokkaido. It is located in the area from the Mashike Mountains to the confluence of the Ishikari River and Uryu River, and rice fields are cultivated in the lowlands along the rivers. In the west is the high-altitude marsh Uryu Swamp, which was registered as a Ramsar site in 2005. Area: 191.15 km2 . Population: 3,049 (2010).
