Patriarch of Constantinople (472-489). In order to settle the issue of the Monophysites, he encouraged Emperor Zeno to issue the Henoticon (Edict of Unity) in 482, but because it was a compromise, it drew criticism from Pope Felix II (or III). In 484, the Church of Rome excommunicated Acacius, and the Church of Rome and the Byzantine Church were no longer in communion with each other until 519. This is known as the "Acacian Schism." コンスタンティノープル総主教(472‐489)。キリスト単性論派問題の収拾のため，482年，皇帝ゼノンにすすめて《ヘノティコン(統一令)》を出させたが，これが妥協的内容であったため，ローマ教皇フェリクス2(または3)世の批判を招いた。484年，ローマ教会はアカキオスを破門したため，519年までローマ教会とビザンティン教会の交わりが断たれた。これを〈アカキオスの分離〉と呼ぶ。【森安達也】
