Poet. Born in Naha City, Okinawa Prefecture. Real name: Yamaguchi Juzaburo. Dropped out of Prefectural First Middle School after 4 years, moved to Tokyo in 1922 (Taisho 11) and moved around from place to place. He started writing poetry in middle school. In 1931 (Showa 6), he published works such as "Ato Yume" in Kaizo. In 1936, he became a member of the "Rekitei" group. His poems are sometimes unique, as they express the reality of life in a realistic, low-pitched voice. His poetry collections include "Shiben no Sono" (The Garden of Thought) (1938), "Tsuna no Kuchi Baku Shishu" (1958), and "Maguro ni Iwashi" (Tuna and Sardines) (1964). "When I replied that his nose was good, his nose hastily hid itself in the palm of his hand" (Hana).
