A mammal of the bovidae family in the order Artiodactyla, with large horns similar to those of a sheep and a tuft of long hair under its neck. It is found in mountainous areas from Kashmir, Punjab, Sindh, and Baluchistan to eastern Iran. Males stand 80-90 cm tall at the shoulder, and their horns are thick, 50-75 cm long, sometimes reaching 100 cm, and make an almost complete turn in an arc, with the tips usually pointing forward and outward. Females' horns are short and almost straight. Males have tufts of long hair on the underside of their throats and necks, the front of which is white and the rear is black. In summer, the fur is gray with a reddish-brown tinge, and in winter, it is brownish gray-white.

ヒツジに似て角が大きく，首の下に長毛の房がある偶蹄目ウシ科の哺乳類。カシミール，パンジャーブ，シンド，バルーチスターンからイラン東部までの山地に分布。雄は肩高80～90cm，角は太く，長さ50～75cm，ときに100cmに達し，弧を描いてほぼ1回転し，先端はふつう前外方に向かう。雌の角は短くほとんどまっすぐ。雄ののどと首の下面には長い毛の房があり，その前部の毛は白く，後部のは黒い。体毛は夏毛では赤褐色を帯びた灰色，冬毛では褐灰白色である。
