The Twenty-Four Filial Piety of Great Japan

Japanese: 大倭二十四孝 - やまとにじゅうしこう
The Twenty-Four Filial Piety of Great Japan
A collection of 24 volumes in 12 books written in kana. It is said to have been written by Azai Ryoi. It was published in 1665 (Kanbun 5). There are later editions such as the 1698 (Genroku 11) edition and an unpublished edition, as well as another edition with illustrations by Hishikawa Moronobu. The Yuan Dynasty's Selected Twenty-Four Filial Sons, written by Kaku Jukei, was translated as a fairy tale called Twenty-Four Filial Sons. As the Edo Shogunate's educational policy, guided by Confucianism, took hold, stories of filial sons were highly revered, creating a boom that led to the publication of kana zoshi such as Tales of Filial Piety and Tales of Parents and Children.
