[Born] Qianlong 28 (1763) [Died] 1820 A scholar of historical research in the Qing Dynasty of China. Born in Ganquan, Jiangsu Province. His courtesy name was Litang. He was appointed as a Juren in the 6th year of the Jiaqing era (1801). He studied under Dai Zhen and became knowledgeable in the study of classics, astronomy, calendar, and mathematics. He did not enter the government service, but instead devoted himself to reading and writing as a scholar. His works include Mencius Zhengji (30 volumes) and An Interpretation of the Analects (1 volume).
