A general term for compounds with the formula M ^I ₂ U _n O _{3 n +1} (M ^I is a monovalent metal, n = 1 to 6). When n = 1, M ^I ₂ UO ₄ is called a (mono)uranate, when n = 2, M ^I ₂ U ₂ O ₇ is called a diuranate (commonly known as a biuranate), and when n = 3, M ^I ₂ U ₃ O ₁₀ is called a triuranate. In addition, the term may also include M ^I ₄ UO ₅ and M ^II ₃ UO _6. They are generally orange or yellow crystals. The most commonly known are diuranates; for example, when a metal hydroxide is added to an aqueous solution of uranyl (VI) salt [UO ₂ ]X ₂ (X is a monovalent acid group), a precipitate forms, and when ammonia is added, ammonium diuranate (NH ₄ ) ₂ U ₂ O ₇ is obtained.

一般式M^I₂U_nO_3n＋1(M^Iは1価金属，n＝1～6)で表される化合物の総称。n＝1のときのM^I₂UO₄を(一)ウラン酸塩，n＝2のM^I₂U₂O₇を二ウラン酸塩(俗に重ウラン酸塩ともいう)，n＝3のM^I₂U₃O₁₀を三ウラン酸塩などという。なお，このほかにM^I₄UO₅,M^II₃UO₆などを含めていうこともある。一般に橙色ないし黄色の結晶である。最も普通に知られているのは二ウラン酸塩で，たとえばウラニル(VI)塩[UO₂]X₂(Xは1価の酸基)水溶液に金属水酸化物を加えると沈殿し，アンモニアを加えると二ウラン酸アンモニウム(NH₄)₂U₂O₇が得られる。
